Shannon and Tom met the New York way...
while working day jobs at the same firm in order to support their burgeoning artistic careers.
Shannon still remembers when Tom arrived to interview, and she definitely remembers when she heard he got the job. (woohoo). Pretty much from the start, there was some candid flirting going on. Until one fateful day, (some of you already know this embarrassing nugget) Tom snuck up behind Shannon at her desk, as she was blissfully unaware, chatting online with a friend about, you guessed it, Tom.
Tom then proceeded to startle Shannon by reading aloud the following:
'I heart Tom'
Shannon flung a hand up to the computer screen. Egad!
Later that day, Tom had some important information to share: he really liked Shannon, but he had a girlfriend.
Well, with this new information, Shannon immediately went out and secured a boyfriend.
During the next eight months and through several relationships, Shannon and Tom became 'friends'. In addition to work, they started hanging out, sharing stories, history, jokes and meals. Early fall of 2007, though they were great friends, Shannon wasn't convinced that Tom liked her in that way. That is of course until:
HALLOWEEN
Tom who was definitely sure he liked Shannon in that way, called her up to see what her plans were for the holiday. Though a favorite, she wasn't planning on going out. Tom convinced her otherwise. After getting ready together at his house, Tom as an air traffic control man, and Shannon as a last minute vampire of some kind, they were off to a party at a bar downtown. After much drinking, dancing, and cavorting, they decided to head for the subway. It was raining, so Tom held Shannon close, under one umbrella, as they dashed for the A train. Later that night, Tom kissed Shannon. And the rest is history.
